BREAKING NEWS MARCH 11, 2 27PM

The Other Store to close
David Czurak

Israels Designs for Living CEO David Israels said The Other Store, the firm’s furniture clearance center at 769 Seward St. NW, will close its doors today to begin preparations for a store closing liquidation sale.

Company President Bob Israels said the space The Other Store occupied will be made available for lease “to meet the growing demand for commercial spaces in the area.”

“There’s been a spike of interest from parties who are interested in locating along the Seward Avenue corridor. So we’re readjusting our real estate holding to meet the demand,” said Bob Israels in a statement.

The building is in the city’s Renaissance Zone, which is an area virtually free from all state and city taxes.

The Other Store has been operating for 25 years and will re-open to the public on March 18 for the liquidation sale. Any remaining merchandise will be transferred to the company’s Klingman’s furniture store on 28th Street in Wyoming.
