Change Ups: CRN volunteer earns O’Bee Service Excellence Award


The Caregiver Resource Network conferred its third annual 2013 Jerry O’Bee Service Excellence Award to Cindy Streekstra. The award is given to a member of the CRN who is a dedicated volunteer and an example of O’Bee’s commitment to excellence for senior citizens and their caregivers. Streekstra is one of the original members of the CRN and has been involved with its Outreach and Access subcommittee since it was formed in 2006.


Arthur J. Kroon & Co. has changed its name to Kroon & Mitchell Certified Public Accountants LLC, and has added Amelia Mitchell, CPA, to its staff. The company also has created a new investment management firm, Kroon & Mitchell Asset Management LLC. The investment firm will be a registered investment advisor headed by senior portfolio manager Phillip M. Mitchell, CFA, CTP.-+


Cascade Engineering chair and CEO Fred Keller is the 2013 recipient of the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition’s Spirit of Michigan Award, given to a Michigan business leader who displays entrepreneurial spirit, contributes significantly to the state’s economic recovery efforts, is actively involved in Michigan’s entrepreneurial community and has built a business that employs a primarily Michigan-based work force.

Cynthia Bell, a nurse-researcher with Hospice of Michigan Institute, has received one of three awards from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses for her article titled, “Approaching End-of-Life Discussions and Adolescents and Young Adults” during the organization’s annual conference in Louisville, Ky.
