Change Ups: Culinary team wins top state title


Baker College of Muskegon’s Culinary Institute of Michigan took the top spot in the American Culinary Federation Michigan State Hot Food Competition in Farmington Hills, and went on to the ACF Central Regional Culinary Salon Competition in St. Louis. The team competed against a team from host Oakland Community College’s Culinary Studies Institute to win the state title. The state competition helps student chefs advance their knowledge, skill and sophistication.

ROL USA Inc. announced the construction of a 140,000-square-foot facility in Holland Charter Township. ROL will laser cut, weld, form, powder coat and machine metal, as well as assemble and package office furniture products at the new facility. More than $19.8 million will be invested and a projected 51 new jobs will be created in the first two years.

West Michigan Sports Commission and Meijer State Games of Michigan released the sports lineup and list of venues for the 2017 State Games of America, to be held in Grand Rapids Aug. 3-6, with more than 45 sports confirmed.
