Grand Rapids Cultural Marketing Group, consisting of members from area arts and cultural organizations, has received the Arts Destination Marketing Award 2012 from the Destination Marketing Association International and Americans for the Arts for its role in the Culture Pass GR program. The group worked with Experience Grand Rapids to create a discount card that provides access to savings and special offers from more than 20 West Michigan arts and cultural organizations.


CSM Group announced Doug Vrba has been promoted to project manager, and Nathan Boyer has joined the firm as an accounting intern.


Advantage Marketing Inc. of Novi announced it has named Mark McAvoy territory manager for western and northern Michigan. McAvoy will be responsible for new account development in the cleaning and restoration industry.


David Vander Zanden is the recipient of a National Silver Award for milk quality from the National Mastitis Council. The award signifies Vander Zanden’s farm is one of the top 51 in the state.


Patricia Clarke served as a national judge for the 45thannual Kent County Dyer-Ives Poetry competition. Clarke is poet-in-resident and a professor in the writing department at Grand Valley State University.

Grand Valley State University professor of mathematics Matthew Boelkins has been selected to receive the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award from the Michigan Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The award will be presented in May.
