Change Ups: Koops plans multimillion-dollar investment


Koops Inc. intends to invest nearly $4.9 million in construction, machinery and equipment in Holland, creating 60 new jobs. Lakeshore Advantage played a key role in supporting Koops by connecting the company with resources to support the Holland expansion and was influential in assisting Koops with the decision to not expand in another state. Founded in 1989, Koops designs and builds specialty machines and equipment for industries, including automotive, transportation, aerospace, construction, medical, furniture and pharmaceutical.

The Grand Rapids Arts Museum announced from Oct. 23 to Jan. 15 it will feature the Midwest debut of more than 50 sculptural masterpieces by Dutch designer Iris van Herpen. The museum’s entire third floorwill feature “Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion” including, but not limited to, 45 haute couture outfits selected from 15 of van Herpen’s collections.


The Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council in Detroit announced the late Hank Aguirre and Ron Hall, Sr. are the 2016 inductees into the Michigan Minority Business Hall of Fame. Retired Calvin College professor Roger DeKock is one of five emeritus faculty nationwide to be part of the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation’s 2016 Senior Scientist Mentor Program. It's DeKock's second time receiving the prestigious award in the past three years, which will provide him with a $20,000 grant to support undergraduate research under his guidance.

Arbor Circle and Pathways announced they have signed an agreement for Pathways to merge with Arbor Circle. The merger will complete a partnership between Arbor Circle and Pathways that started last year.Arbor Circle offers more than 35 counseling, education and prevention programs. Pathways provides diverse programming, including child welfare, substance abuse and mental health counseling.
