Students, staff and public golfers have a year-round option to hone their golf skills due to the recent opening of the Ken Janke Sr. Golf Learning Center at Ferris State University’s Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. The 9,500-square-foot, two-story, $3.5-million facility includes three heated indoor hitting bays, which can be opened to the adjoining practice area of Katke Golf Course, an indoor putting green and four TrackMan golf simulators.

Kids’ Food Basket announced an expansion of its meal program into Allegan County due to a $130,000 gift from the Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation. The first $30,000 will go toward programming in Ottawa County to sustain 900 students this academic year at six schools and sites. The additional $100,000 will be used for Kids’ Food Basket’s expansion into Allegan County. Allegan is where Perrigo’s North American Head of Operations is located.

Walker-based Meijer expanded its mobile shopping checking program, Shop & Scan, to 23 stores in Chicago and northwest Indiana, following success in Michigan test markets. Shop & Scan enables users to scan bar codes on items via a mobile app and place in their digital cart. A running total of items purchased is available as customers shop throughout the store, scanning and bagging their groceries.
