Kuyper College appoints VP of enrollment management

Kuyper College announced Dale D. Kuiper has been appointed to the post of vice president for enrollment management. Kuiper will direct the college’s student recruitment marketing, admissions, retention and financial aid programs. Prior to coming to Kuyper, and for the past 30 years, Kuiper served in various positions at Calvin College, most recently as chief admissions officer/director of enrollment policy and planning, where he oversaw enrollment research and enrollment operations. Prior to that, he served as the director of admissions and financial aid.

ACCOUNTING

H&S Companies announced the addition of Ross & Ross Certified Public Accountants, Mount Pleasant.

ASSOCIATIONS

The American Heart Association announced Tony Grossa, employee benefit consultant for Graves & Co., will serve as chair of the My Heart My Life initiative.

Michigan Radio news director Vincent Duffy has been named chair of the Radio Television Digital News Association. He is the first public media news director elected to this position with the national organization.

BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION

Granger Group announced the most recent addition to Metro Health Village: Spartan Stores Family Fare and Quick Stop, which is the first LEED-certified Spartan grocery store. The Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic is expected to begin construction in 2013. Granger also began the first phase of a 40-acre mixed-use development in Zeeland Township, Village of Park Place, which will include retail, medical and commercial officer, restaurant and hotel locations, as well as a bank and pharmacy.

Windemuller announced the addition of Gerry Castino as a technology sales engineer. Windemuller provides service for industrial, institutional, government, utilities, commercial and municipal customers. 

Vos Glass Inc. has welcomed Timothy Audretsch to its contract glazing team as estimator/project manager. He has more than 13 years of project management experience in Eastern Michigan.

BUSINESS SERVICES

Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce announced Joe Jones, Grand Rapids Urban League, and Christina Keller, Trip Quest (Cascade Engineering), have been nominated for a three-year term on the board commencing Jan. 1.

The Right Place Inc. is the recipient of the 2011 Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award in the category of “annual report for communities with populations of greater than 500,000,” from the International Economic Development Council.

The Employers’ Association of West Michigan announced it launched The Exchange (www.exchangewestmi.com), a web-based and primarily ad-hoc system to reuse materials by direct sharing between businesses, municipalities and nonprofit organizations.

Office Staffing announced the addition of Terri Sobolewski, director of business development for the legal and medical staffing divisions.

EDUCATION

Aquinas College announced the promotion of Greg Meyer as vice president for institutional advancement. Meyer began serving the college in 2010 as associate vice president for institutional advancement and, prior to that post, was University of Michigan’s regional director (West Michigan) for major and planned giving.

Calvin College hosted an open house to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Prince Conference Center. Since 2002, the center has accommodated thousands of overnight guests and hosted hundreds of events. In 2005, it was transformed into a museum, hosting 200 artifacts of Nabataean culture for the Petra: Lost City of Stone exhibition. The facility serves as Calvin College’s hospitality center.

Davenport University announced the addition of Peg Luy, executive vice president for advancement. Luy previously served as vice president for alumni and development at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. She will be responsible for DU’s advancement, grant writing and alumni relations efforts.

Gerald R. Ford Middle School is the recipient of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Healthier U.S. School Challenge Gold Award of Distinction, conferred to schools that have met high standards in breakfast and lunch participation, servings of fresh fruits, whole grains and vegetables, nutrition and physical education, physical activity and wellness policy.

GRANTS

Grand Rapids Community College announced it is the recipient of a $166,214 grant from the National Science Foundation. The award is part of its transforming undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program.

Spectrum Health Medical Group announced 29 primary care physician practices have been named Patient-Centered Medical Homes by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. PCMH teams coordinate patient health care using registries to track patient conditions.

Spectrum Health System board of directors elected Steven. C. Ender, president of Grand Rapids Community College, and M. Ashraf Mansour, vascular surgeon and Spectrum Health Medical Group executive, to three-year terms.
