A global accounting firm has selected the next managing principal of its Michigan practice.
New York-based Deloitte named David Parent to the leadership role for its Michigan practice, which employs more than 1,200 professionals in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Midland and Lansing.
He succeeds Mark Davidoff, who will retire from Deloitte at the end of the year to become president and CEO of The Fisher Group.
Parent’s role will become effective on Jan. 1. He will be based in Detroit.
“It’s an honor to have been asked to serve as Michigan managing principal,” Parent said. “I am grateful for Mark’s contributions to both Deloitte and the community over the last eight years. He provided exemplary leadership for our practice … while working with community organizations to help tackle some of our region’s most pressing social issues.”
Davidoff said Parent brings “a great depth” of experience to the team.
“I am confident that he will continue to grow Deloitte’s contributions in the state of Michigan, while making an impact with clients and the community,” Davidoff said.
Parent is a principal with Deloitte Consulting. With 25 years of experience, he specializes in large-scale workforce, technology and broader organization transformations across numerous industries. He is a member of its government and public services practice, where he leads the workforce transformation offering.
While still maintaining his client service responsibilities, Parent will oversee strategy, business development, operations and talent for the Michigan practice. Additionally, he will “strategically position” Deloitte for growth “in multiple markets across the state.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and two master’s degrees from the University of Michigan.
In 2015, he received the Bert F. Wertman Alumni Service Award from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
Additionally, he was appointed by the governor as a commissioner on the statewide Michigan Community Service Commission.
Deloitte provides audit, consulting, tax and advisory services to companies in more than 150 countries and territories.
It has more than 312,000 employees.
