A maker of lightweight composite products for the aerospace industry is expanding in the area.
Zeeland-based Plascore is investing nearly $6 million to construct a new 80,000-square-foot facility and create 35 jobs over three years, according to Lakeshore Advantage today.
Construction on the facility began this spring in Zeeland, at 450 E. Roosevelt Ave., and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The company’s headquarters is located at 615 N. Fairview in Zeeland.
Plascore has experienced increased demand for its machined aramid and aluminum products. Aramid fibers are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic materials used in aerospace and military applications.
As a result, the company continues to purchase new equipment and expand production capacity. The company currently employs 415 people.
Zeeland-based Lakeshore Advantage, an economic development organization, connected the company with local resources to support the expansion.
The city of Zeeland approved an industrial facilities tax exemption over 12 years to support the project.
