An aerospace supplier is expanding one of its facilities in the region.
Plascore is expanding its Aerospace Business Unit facility in Zeeland, at 500 E. Roosevelt Ave.
The project involves a roughly 73,500-square-foot addition to the facility.
The expansion will allow the company to develop and install additional automated production equipment to meet its aerospace customers’ demands.
“Plascore has benefitted from significant growth in the aerospace industry over the last few years,” said Chuck DeGlopper, VP of Aramid Honeycomb, Plascore. “This expansion will allow us to continue pursuing new product innovations.”
The expansion is a $6-million investment for Plascore, which hopes to add 10 to 15 new jobs over the next two years.
Job openings encompass general manufacturing labor, skilled machine operators, customer service specialists and automation and product development engineers.
The company’s expansion will double the size of its current Aerospace Business Unit facility.
The City of Zeeland is supporting Plascore’s expansion in the form of a tax abatement.
“Plascore, Inc. has been a corporate citizen of Zeeland for many years,” said Zeeland Mayor Kevin Klynstra. “They were granted a tax abatement for this addition, because of their commitment for more jobs and for being a supporter of many social and community events in and around Zeeland.”
Plascore currently has four facilities in Zeeland Industrial Park with more than 300 full-time employees.
