An airline at Gerald R. Ford International Airport is adding a new non-stop route.

Frontier Airlines will begin offering low-fare non-stop flights to Philadelphia International Airport on April 9.

This new non-stop flight option will operate Monday and Friday.

Frontier currently operates non-stop flights to Orlando, Florida and seasonal non-stop flights to Fort Myers, Florida, with flights to Denver beginning on April 8.

Frontier will join American Airlines in service to Philadelphia from Grand Rapids. American has been offering the service since its merger with US Airways in September 2014.

The airport’s president and CEO, Jim Gill, said he hopes the route promotes travel and tourism in Philadelphia and West Michigan.

“We are thrilled to hear Frontier has had a successful first few months in our market and that the airline is adding more service,” Gill said.

Josh Flyr, VP of planning and revenue management at Frontier Airlines, said, “The Grand Rapids community has embraced our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ service since our return just six weeks ago.”
