Amway names chief R&D officer

Amway has tapped a former food industry executive to lead the company’s research and development functions.

The Ada-based direct-selling company said today it hired Anouchah Sanei as its chief research and development officer.

She joins Amway from Campbell Soup, where she most recently served as global VP of science and technology, nutrition and regulatory.

Sanei will report to Gan Chee Eng, chief digital and product officer, Amway.

“Anouchah brings to Amway extensive global experience leading transformational change and driving innovation,” Eng said. “We look forward to leveraging her knowledge and expertise as we continue to develop products, solutions and experiences Amway business owners and customers around the world want and can’t wait to try.”

In her role, Sanei will be responsible for leading Amway’s global R&D organization, which includes nearly 1,000 Amway scientists, engineers and technicians throughout the more than 100 countries and territories where Amway operates.

She will be tasked with leveraging Amway’s reputation “for using cutting-edge science and technology to discover and develop relevant, high-impact health products.”

Sanei’s background

While at Campbell Soup, Sanei was responsible for leading the company’s “transformational innovation” agenda in the insulated technologies, process and packaging areas, as well as developing and executing its nutrition strategy.

Previously, Sanei spent 14 years with PepsiCo in a variety of executive leadership roles, including VP of R&D, Europe, where she led the Developed European markets R&D organization for food and beverages and led the innovation, quality and productivity programs for the juice, snacks and breakfast cereal categories.

While at PepsiCo, she also created the Asia R&D center in Shanghai.

Sanei also spent many years with Nestle in Europe and North America and led its innovation agenda and multiple R&D teams for pet food, coffee and other beverage categories.


Amway is a family-owned direct-selling company that reported $8.6 billion in 2017 revenue.

It has several brands: Nutrilite vitamin, mineral and dietary supplements; Artistry skincare and color cosmetics; eSpring water treatment systems; and XS energy drinks — all sold exclusively by Amway independent business owners.

The company’s annual sales figure includes revenue from direct-selling operations and other business holdings.
