A local architecture firm has named a new principal.

Progressive AE said it appointed David Shull, A.I.A., as the firm's 13th principal.

Shull will help set the firm’s strategic direction and identify future leaders, while continuing to lead and grow its industrial practice.

“I’m honored to become a principal of Progressive AE,” Shull said. “The firm’s growth and expertise are a testament to its vision and outlook. I look forward to continue serving our clients and growing in this new role.”

Shull joined Progressive AE in 2012 as the firm’s industrial practice leader.

He has more than 30 years experience as an architect, project manager and program manager.

Since joining Progressive AE, Shull has worked with national and international clients on a variety of industrial projects from cold storage to manufacturing and distribution facilities.

He also hosts and presents Progressive AE’s PivotPoint manufacturing event each year. In 2019, PivotPoint will be held on March 13 at the Goei Center in Grand Rapids.

“We’re thrilled to have David take on the role of principal at Progressive AE,” said Brad Thomas, president and CEO, Progressive AE. “His ability to think critically about issues, combined with his expertise in architecture and design exemplify the unique blend of strategic and creative that our clients find incredibly valuable.”

He is a registered architect in Michigan, a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, Michigan Manufacturing Association and American Institute of Architects.

He holds a bachelor of architecture from Andrews University.
