The Arena District, a coalition of downtown businesses, is presenting its second annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Saturday.

The outdoor event will be held in the Area 3 parking lot on Ionia Avenue SW, between Weston and Oakes streets in the Heartside Business District, from noon until 10 p.m.

Music and dancing

District officials said Hispanic bands will be playing on the outdoor stage. The headliner is Houston’s Maximo & Mo Milones.

A wandering Mariachi band also will perform, and salsa demonstrations and lessons will be part of the event.

Free wings for a year

Local Latino food vendors, artisans and community organizations will be on hand.

There also will be a tequila tent and two beer tents.

Buffalo Wild Wings will host a wings-eating contest, and the winner will receive free wings for a year.

Fiesta goers must be at least 21 years old.

Tickets are $10 now and can be purchased at various Arena District restaurants, via the Arena District’s Cinco de Mayo Downtown Fiesta Facebook page and StarTickets.com. Tickets are $15 on Saturday and can be bought at the gate.
