Less than two years after becoming the executive director of ArtPrize, Jori Bennett is resigning.
Bennett will step down from her role in December, because she will be relocating with her family to the U.K.
"Although I am excited to take on this new experience with my family, it is with a very heavy heart that I am leaving ArtPrize and this extraordinary community,” Bennett said.
“My time with ArtPrize has been nothing short of pure excitement and joy."
The ArtPrize Board of Directors is searching for her replacement.
If ArtPrize cannot find a new executive director before Bennett departs, Kevin Buist, artistic director, and Meg Vande Guchte, business operations director, will take on the day-to-day leadership responsibilities until a new executive director is in place.
Last year, under Bennett’s leadership, ArtPrize became a biennial event, as the organization shifted to produce a city-wide public art project every other year.
Project 1 debuted on Sept. 7 and runs through Oct. 27.
The ArtPrize competition will return next year.
