A credit union in the region is sponsoring a new restaurant and bar space at the Van Andel Arena.

Consumers Credit Union recently revealed its new arena partnership with the ConsumersCU Club Restaurant + Bar — formerly known as The Intermission — on the venue’s first floor. The ConsumersCU Club will open its doors at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14.

The credit union also teamed up with the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team for ticket giveaways all season and sponsorship of the Nov. 16 matinee game.

“The Van Andel Arena and Griffins hockey team are staples of the Grand Rapids community,” said Scott Sylvester, president and CEO of Consumers Credit Union. “We are looking forward to all the possibilities that arise as part of this exciting new collaboration.”

A full-service restaurant and bar, the new ConsumersCU Club will be managed by SAVOR…Grand Rapids. The menu features a variety of shareables, handhelds, entrees and desserts, including Tuscan mussels, poke nachos, margherita flatbread and sopapillas.

The club will open two hours prior to most events for that day’s ticket holders only and remain open during the event. The ConsumersCU Club will not be open for every event at Van Andel Arena.

Reservations are encouraged and can be made for parties of up to eight, while walk-ins are welcome based on availability. Reservations can be made at (616) 742-6453 or via email at consumerscuclub@grsavor.com.

As part of this new partnership, Consumers also was granted naming rights of the restaurant and signage throughout the arena. This included the installation of a scenic mural by local photographer and Consumers member William James Burke V over the stairs/escalator area, which is similar to Consumers signage at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
