An association is running a three-part training workshop for nonprofit board members.

April 10 is the last day to register for the course by the Association for Corporate Growth Western Michigan. The course was developed for those with little or no nonprofit board experience.

Local leaders will present topics on nonprofit board governance, leadership styles and tools for those in leadership. The workshop will also include exercises to determine strengths and areas for growth.

The training will conclude with a reception and networking with nonprofit board training alumni, ACG senior professionals and nonprofit board leaders from more than 20 organizations.

All sessions will take place at Varnum's downtown Grand Rapids office, at 333 Bridge St. NW.

Session one, Nonprofit 101, is April 23 from 3-6 p.m.

Session two, Board Duties and Responsibilities, is May 2 from 3-6 p.m. The guest presenter is former Beene Garter partner Peggy Bishop.

Session three, Leadership Connections, is May 16 from 3-7:30 p.m.

The workshop is $175 for ACG members and $300 for non-members.

Registration is available online.
