If there were a “Nice List” of Michigan businesses, it would probably look a lot like this.

The 2013 class of the 101 Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies in Michigan was named today.

The second-annual list was created by an independent research firm and is co-presented by Davenport University and Corp! and produced by the Michigan Business & Professional Association.

The designation honors companies that have shown a commitment to become sustainable, support local and global environments and better the lives of their employees.

Awards ceremony

The 101 winning companies will be celebrated at an award celebration and symposium on Sept. 18 at Davenport University. Governor Rick Snyder will attend the event.

The symposium will begin at 7:30 a.m. and feature keynote speaker Bruce Thompson, vice president of Rockford Ventures, who will speak on "Sustainability Innovation, Knowledge and Implementation Shared by Leaders."

The luncheon and awards ceremony — where elite winners in each category will be announced — will begin at 9:45 a.m. and be hosted by Steve Kelly of WOOD Radio.

Tickets for the event are $75 per ticket and can be purchased by calling 586-393-8800 or online.
