A publication that covers litigation and disputes has selected a local lawyer for a list of top attorneys younger than 40.
Kristen Guinn, a shareholder in Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge’s Grand Rapids office, was named to the Benchmark Litigation 2017 "Under 40 Hot List" this summer.
The list, first released in 2016, honors “practitioners, all aged 40 or younger, (who) have been deemed the most promising emerging talent in their respective litigation communities in the U.S. and Canada,” according to Benchmark Litigation.
Guinn was the only West Michigan attorney on the list. She also was selected in 2016.
Benchmark Litigation curated the list of up-and-coming legal partners through peer review and case examination over a period of several months.
A trial attorney who represents individuals and businesses in commercial, professional liability, employment, criminal and probate litigation matters, Guinn currently serves as chair of Smith Haughey’s associate development committee.
She is immediate past president of Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and served on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan.
Guinn earned a B.A. in mathematics from Butler University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Founded in 1941, Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge has more than 85 attorneys and counselors working in offices in Grand Rapids, Holland, Ann Arbor and Traverse City.
