A local attorney is planning a new brewery for a Grand Rapids neighborhood.
Christopher Gibbons will seek a special land-use permit for Brass Ring Brewing Co., at 2404 Eastern Ave. SE, at the Dec. 8 Grand Rapids Planning Commission meeting.
The business would occupy 2,165 square feet of space and have a 94-customer total occupancy.
Gibbons is an attorney with Dunn/Gibbons, a law firm downtown.
Brass Ring Brewing would be the first brewery in the Alger Heights business district, and it’s a business that would complement the neighborhood, Gibbons says in his application to the city.
“It is consistent with the Master Plan and will be a neighborhood hub that will attract local residents of Alger Heights and Garfield Park,” he says.
Gibbons says he anticipates hiring three full-time and five part-time employees at the tasting room, which would serve “all natural, small batch craft beers.”
He also says the brewery would focus on “environmental stewardship and best environmental practices.”
