A maker of direct fuel injection components for the auto industry is planning to ramp up production in 2015 and add jobs.
Marley Precision, which operates two facilities in Battle Creek’s Fort Custer Industrial Park, said this week that it plans to meet increased production demand by adding a third shift at its plant at 1255 Hill Brady Rd.
The company, part of Okazaki, Japan-based Maruei Industries Co. Ltd., employs 20 workers and expects to add 10-12 manufacturing positions.
The jobs will be entry level with training opportunities that will position new hires to move into CNC, metal fabrication and other production roles.
The company said its other Battle Creek location would also see investment over the next 12 months, including new machines and interior improvements.
Growth
Marley Precision joined the Battle Creek community in the 1990s, when it began operations at 455 Fritz Keiper Blvd.
Last December, the company expanded with its second location, on Hill Brady Road.
Economic development
“Marley Precision is a highly skilled manufacturer providing skilled employment opportunities in Battle Creek,” said Karl Dehn, president and CEO, Battle Creek Unlimited, a regional economic development nonprofit.
“For many years, Battle Creek Unlimited and the city of Battle Creek have enjoyed a great relationship with Marley company leaders in both Battle Creek and in Japan. We appreciate the support by Shigemitsu Takagi, president of Maruei Industries Co. Ltd. in Japan, for this significant investment and commitment to Battle Creek.”
