A Grand Rapids-based auto supplier plans to create 97 jobs by spending $7.9 million to expand its operations at the lakeshore.

ADAC Automotive has decided to expand its two facilities in Muskegon, rather than invest in a competing site in Mexico, according to the state.

ADAC Automotive manufactures products such as exterior and interior door handles and exterior mirrors, fuel-filler doors and rear-access trim.

ADAC operates eight locations in Michigan: four in Grand Rapids, two in Muskegon, one in Troy and one in Saranac.

Incentives

The state’s marketing arm, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, said Wednesday that ADAC has been awarded a $650,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the expansion.

The city of Muskegon also plans to support ADAC’s expansion with property tax abatements.

Governor Rick Snyder said the expansion is an example of “Michigan’s leadership in making things and making things work” and the importance of an “improved business climate and infrastructure.”
