A bank with a large presence in the region is shuttering a facility and cutting 129 jobs.
Huntington employees at One Financial Plaza in Holland, at 10717 Adams St., will lose their jobs on July 14, according to a letter penned by Huntington SVP Amy Heaton in accordance with the Michigan Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
Huntington’s acquisition of FirstMerit Corporation last August strengthened the bank’s presence across the state and precipitated the closure of the location to “align functions and improve efficiencies,” according to the WARN notification.
The affected employees will have the opportunity to apply for positions within Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington.
Those not offered jobs with the bank will be offered severance and outplacement services to help them find new employment.
A range of roles are being affected by the move: account relationship associate; administrative assistant; business analyst; customer service specialist; phone bank digital support specialist; phone bank personal banker; relationship sales associate; trust and fund specialist; and more.
