Citizens hired a new executive to oversee its Michigan market.

The Providence, Rhode Island-based bank with branches in 11 states said Wednesday, March 23, it appointed Yasmeen Jasey as Michigan market executive. The market previously was led by Michigan President Rick Hampson, who left in 2020.

Jasey, who holds an MBA from the University of Windsor, Ontario, will represent Citizens throughout the state as the bank partners with customers, businesses and communities.

She has more than 25 years of banking experience and joins Citizens from Fifth Third Bank, where she served middle market and corporate clients. She will oversee a portfolio of middle market and corporate clients, acting as a strategic and financial partner, Citizens said.

“Michigan is a very important growth market for Citizens, and I am looking forward to Yasmeen joining our leadership team here,” said Jim Malz, Midwest region executive, Citizens. “It is an exciting time to be at Citizens as we continue to grow nationally and expand the suite of solutions we can offer our retail and business customers.”

Citizens recently acquired HSBC’s East Coast branches and national digital bank and expects to close its acquisition of New Jersey-based Investors Bank shortly. For business clients, Citizens expanded its mergers and acquisitions advisory team and added equity capital markets capabilities last year with the acquisition of San Francisco-based JMP Group.

The bank also acquired Chicago-based Willamette Management Associates in 2021 to bolster its business valuation team.
