A local full-service accounting firm promoted one of its employees to partner.

Grand Rapids-based Echelbarger, Himebaugh, Tamm & Co. (EHTC) said Wednesday, Jan. 5, it promoted Mike Young, a certified public accountant, to partner, effective Jan. 1.

Young joined EHTC as a tax associate in 2013. At the time, he brought to the firm three years of public accounting experience in the Minneapolis and Grand Rapids areas and four years of private accounting knowledge.

“Thank you to everyone at the firm, the leaders, and my family and friends for supporting me in my career growth thus far,” Young said. “I’m fortunate to be part of a great community and to have built long-lasting relationships throughout the West Michigan area. I’m extremely proud of the firm’s success and cannot wait to see what the future holds for EHTC.”

In addition to recruiting interns and developing team members, Young is involved in EHTC’s transaction advisory services practice, which works with West Michigan businesses to provide exit strategy planning, transaction structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and tax and financial due diligence. He also is involved in the tax department, offering consulting and tax compliance advice for businesses and individuals. His industry focus areas include manufacturing, real estate, construction, insurance and managed services.

Young joins the other partners at EHTC, including Dave Echelbarger, Erik Olson, Jake Wolffis, Jenny Hashley and Heather Kelbel.
