A $2.5-million, out-of-state location is up next for a local restaurant and bar company.
BarFly Ventures announced HopCat St. Louis this week, along the Delmar Loop. The location, at 6317 Delmar Blvd., is expected to open later this year.
“St. Louis has played a major role in America’s brewing heritage, so creating a HopCat in one of America’s great beer cities seemed like a natural fit,” BarFly Ventures and HopCat Founder Mark Sellers said.
“The Delmar Loop area is just the kind of location we look for when choosing a HopCat. With easy access to amenities like the Loop Trolley, proximity to live music venues and other great restaurants and bars and the historic Theatre Tivoli, we think HopCat can further strengthen this unique neighborhood.”
The two-story bar will be the 15th for the company and include 80 beer taps, a beer garden and a street-side patio. The inside dining rooms will seat 245, and the outdoor areas will offer room for another 100.
HopCat St. Louis is expected to create nearly 130 jobs.
HopCat has been named among the best beer bars in the nation by publications such as Beer Advocate Magazine, Draft Magazine, RateBeer.com and CraftBeer.com. HopCat’s Crack Fries were named among the 10 best by Food Network magazine.
BarFly recently opened HopCat Kansas City.
Founded in 2008, there are 12 open HopCat locations: Grand Rapids, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Detroit and Kalamazoo; Chicago; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Madison, Wisconsin. Other HopCats expected to open this year include Florida, Minnesota and Michigan.
BarFly also includes Stella’s Lounge, Grand Rapids Brewing Co. and The Waldron Public House.
