A downtown bar is celebrating its birthday with a deal on one of the nation’s “best” burgers and Michigan whiskey.
Stella’s Lounge in Grand Rapids will celebrate its 5th anniversary on April 30 with $3 burgers and $5 Michigan whiskey flights.
Free arcade games and bourbon-barrel beer tappings will also be part of the celebration.
The day is “our way of saying thank to all of our fans who have made Stella’s such a success,” said Mark Sellers, founder and owner, Stella’s Lounge.
Stella’s burgers are normally about $11 but have been offered at discounted prices on anniversaries in the past.
From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the original stuffed beef and vegetarian burgers will be $3, similar to the $3 and $4 burger deals on the bar’s 3rd and 4th anniversaries. Burgers are $5 every Thursday.
Representatives from the company said it will be the last time the burgers are offered at the original Thursday burger-day price of $3, which dates back to the bar's opening in 2010.
Stella’s burger was named the “Best in America” by GQ in 2013. Since then, the burgers have been named Grand Rapids Magazine’s “Best in Grand Rapids” in 2014 and 2015.
Stella’s will offer a limited number of ticketed table reservations, with 100 percent of the funds heading to C-Snip, a low cost spay and neuter organization.
“I am excited to offer support to C-Snip, which does important work in our community to help control West Michigan’s pet population,” Sellers said. “Many people don’t know this, but Stella’s was named after my dog, Stella.”
Tickets will be $10 each, with three seating times: 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased online.
