A local barbecue restaurant is opening a second location to expand its catering services.

Two Scotts Barbecue has leased a 2,200-square-foot space at 1120 Knapp St. NE in Grand Rapids to house a new catering kitchen, according to Colliers International West Michigan last week.

Co-owners Scott Luecht and Scott Hartmann plan to open the new location in January and hire two employees.

“We are very fortunate to have growing demand for catering orders over recent years, and it got to a point where we had to turn down orders because we didn’t have capacity,” Luecht said.

“Our new catering kitchen will allow us to fulfill more large catering orders, and we won’t have to close our shop to do so. It’s rewarding to serve our customers, and we are excited to fill even more orders in the coming year.”

The restaurant opened in 2015 in a 400-square-foot space on the city’s West Side, at 536 Leonard St. NW.

In addition to restaurant service, Two Scotts caters corporate events, weddings and graduation parties, and it has a food truck that serves barbecue to local breweries.

Two Scotts’ new catering kitchen will be equipped with two walk-in coolers, big sinks and other equipment needed to fill large orders.

There will also be a small customer area where the business can offer consulting for weddings and other events.

Luecht and Hartmann worked with Colliers International West Michigan to lease the space.

Colliers also represented the space's landlord, Dama Properties, in the deal.
