A beer brand is opening a bar in the pre-security area of Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Leinenkugel’s Leinie Lodge, featuring German-inspired beer on tap and by the bottle, will open adjacent to Starbucks in the airport’s Grand Hall.

Founded in 1867 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Leinenkugel’s, which is family run, sells its products all over the country. The brand is owned by MillerCoors.

The bar will also sell sandwiches, wraps, salads and an assortment of snacks.

“Our passengers were craving more options for food and beverage pre-security, and this new offering will accomplish just that,” said Jim Gill, president and CEO, Ford airport. “We are excited to have a new addition to our restaurant scene."

The new space is expected to open in May.

“We, along with our partner Steve Jenkins, are thankful to continue our partnership with GFIA to offer both travelers and those awaiting arriving passengers a place to relax and enjoy a cold drink and snacks,” said Bryan Loden, VP of business development at HMSHost, the company that operates the space.
