Two board members for a local company are considered to be among the "most-influential black corporate directors."
SpartanNash board members Hawthorne “Peet” Proctor and Yvonne Jackson were both named to Savoy Magazine’s "Power 300: 2016 Most Influential Black Corporate Directors."
Both Hawthorne and Jackson have served on the board since it was created with the merger of Spartan Stores and NashFinch in 2013.
Board members are crucial to the success of Grand Rapid-based SpartanNash, the company’s President and CEO Dennis Eidson said.
"Each director’s unique background and talents expand our perspective and foster our innovation,” Eidson said. “Yvonne and Peet’s inclusion on this elite list certainly makes that point.”

SpartanNash said her 30 years of HR experience help the company during discussions on succession planning, compensation, benefits, management and diversity.
Jackson has also held positions with Pfizer, Compaq Computer Co. and Burger King.
