A national automotive painting and collision repair company is targeting the Grand Rapids market.
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Maaco said last month that it plans to open five locations in the next two years and is looking for multi- and single-unit franchisees.
The growth is driven by an increasing average age of cars on the road, nearing 11.5 years, according to Maaco.
“We have found substantial room for growth potential and a heavy demand for our services,” Maaco VP of Franchise Development Rob Cambruzzi said.
Maaco said its shops in the Grand Rapids market would create seven or more jobs per location, and an average Maaco store generates more than $1.2 million in annual sales.
At one point there was a Maaco location in Wyoming, but it has closed. There are 12 Maaco locations in Michigan.
Potential franchisees are not required to have any automotive experience.
Maaco provides new owners with training programs, operating and marketing support. The company also spreads $100 million in fleet accounts across its franchise system.
Maaco said an initial franchisee investment is $285,000, and franchisees average $192,240 in income.
The franchise has more than 470 locations in the U.S., and it expects to double its size in the next three years, with targeted expansion in markets such as Grand Rapids.
