Another entrepreneurial startup is finding a home in Holland.
Boxed Water is Better, a Grand Rapids-based boxed water company located at 201 Monroe Ave. NW, has opened an 11,000-square-foot packaging and distribution center at 135 Manufacturers Drive.
The facility opened about two weeks ago, said Benjamin Gott, Boxed Water founder.
“Our filling capacity can convert one skid of cartons into an entire semi-truck of finished product, but until now, we had no place to store it,” he said. “We can now plan well in advance of our major commitments, while still servicing our growing number of distribution partners.”
Gott said Boxed Water will now be able to produce 250,000 units containing 500 milliliters each in a week’s time, as well as store more than 506,000 units in its new location. Gott said Brett VanderKamp, owner of New Holland Brewing Co., has helped staff the facility during its opening.
“It’s a really unique thing to be able to own our own manufacturing right now,” Gott said. “It allows us to be agile and create a great product.”
The move marks a time of major growth for Boxed Water, which has offices in Grand Rapids and Los Angeles. The company inked a contract in April 2012 with C3 Presents, an Austin-based concert promoter, artist manager and event production firm that has been involved with popular music events and festivals, including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Boxed Water provided the water for both of those events and will do so this year as well, Gott said.
