A brewery in the area has started shipping beer to New York.

Comstock Park-based Perrin Brewing Co. said last week it is partnering with New York beverage distributor Union Beer Distributors to offer the brewery’s beer in New York.

Beer distributed in New York will include Perrin’s year-round, seasonal and specialty brews.

New York joins Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Colorado and Florida in Perrin’s distribution footprint.

Perrin brewed 23,500 barrels of beer in 2016, an increase of 60 percent over 2015. A barrel is 31 gallons.

Perrin’s growth is fueled by it being part of Longmont, Colorado-based Oskar Blues Brewery, which was announced in 2015. Oskar Blues is backed by the Waltham, Massachusetts-based private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners.

Oskar Blues Holding Co. is the 10th-largest craft brewery in the nation and 18th-largest brewery overall in the U.S.
