A local brewery has donated thousands of dollars and pallets of food to a nonprofit.

Comstock Park-based Perrin Brewing Co. gave $20,000 and 2,151 pounds of food to Kids’ Food Basket after the brewery's Ice Jam Winter Festival in January.

More than 1,500 people ventured out to the event and donated the food and money.

The event featured the Frostbite 5k Run/Walk, as well as live music and special beer releases.

A check presentation was made this month at Kids’ Food Basket.

“My family have been supporters and believers in Kids’ Food Basket and what they do,” said Keith Klopcic, president, Perrin Brewing Co. “This festival and ultimately the donation makes us very proud to take this next step in our partnership.”

Perrin Brewing Co. was founded in 2012 and grew by 60 percent in 2016 to brew more than 23,500 barrels of beer.

Perrin is now part of Oskar Blues Holding Co., which also owns Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery and Florida’s Cigar City Brewing.
