A brewery is opening a new restaurant and taproom on Beer City’s West Side.

Dexter-based Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales will host the grand opening of Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery on March 22 at 11 a.m., at 428 Bridge St. NW.

Jolly Pumpkin’s West Side taproom is over a year in the making.

The brewery originally targeted the former Red Lion Inn building, at 449 Bridge St. NW, in January 2017, before moving forward with a plan for the former Black Heron Kitchen & Bar site.

The new restaurant and taproom will be Jolly Pumpkin’s sixth Michigan location and its first in West Michigan.

Founded in 2004, Jolly Pumpkin specializes in barrel-aged sour ales.

The company operates six locations in Chicago, Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Dexter, Royal Oak and Detroit.

Jolly Pumpkin beers can be found worldwide.
