A brewery in the region has begun distributing its beer statewide.

Big Lake Brewing Co. in Holland said today that it has signed with Kalamazoo-based Imperial Beverage and is initially sending two beers into the state market: RyeCoe, a rye IPA with Simcoe hops; and Darkstar, a stout with fresh coffee and cacao nibs.

The beers will be found in cans to start.

Currently, Big Lake is self-distributing five brands in Kent and Ottawa counties: RyeCoe, Leroy Brown, Ramarillo, Darkstar and Citra Wheat.

“Since we self-distribute around the West Michigan area, we get to interact with the people who are selling our beer,” said Travis Prueter, co-founder, Big Lake Brewing Co. “We get to talk to them and find out what our local beer drinkers are liking and talking about. From there, we chose two beers that created a buzz around West Michigan.”

Last year, Big Lake Brewing celebrated its two-year anniversary, expanded its brewing capacity for the fourth time and started distributing its beers.

“Last year will be pretty hard to top, but we’re extremely excited to see what 2016 will bring,” said Nic Winsemius, co-founder, Big Lake Brewing Co.
