A suburban brewery has moved and is set to re-open for business.
Ada-based Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery & Supply said it will open at its new location at 452 Ada Dr. SE on May 11.
The brewery’s original location at 418 Ada Dr. SE closed during transition, according to Facebook.
“We’ve put a lot of time and effort into making this feel similar to what the other Gravel Bottom was: welcoming and comfortable,” said Matt Michiels, owner, Gravel Bottom.
The move was announced in August of 2017, the Business Journal previously reported.
The new 2,500-square-foot building will afford the brewery a larger taproom and a larger production capacity.
Other upgrades include 20 taps, ensuring Gravel Bottom favorites will stay, while allowing the brewery to experiment with new offerings.
Production will have a new brite tank and new three- and seven-barrel jacketed fermenters, enabling brewers to experiment with temperature and larger batches.
"Gravel Bottom has become a well-known pillar of the Ada business community, and we’re excited about their move,” said George Haga, supervisor, Ada Township. “Their new home and highly visible location on Ada Drive are another example of the transformation that is taking place in the Envision Ada project.”
Michiels said the homebrew shop will not be integrated into the new space, but customers can look forward to a new kitchen serving meals by Chef Eric Benedict.
The menu will feature locally sourced, seasonally influenced dishes and small plates.
The brewery is also acquiring a vintner’s license, meaning it will soon offer house-made and wholesale wines, meads and ciders.
