A local brewery is kicking off 2019 with the first of several limited releases.

Grand Rapids-based Founders Brewing Co. has announced the return of Blushing Monk as part of its 2019 Limited Series.

Blushing Monk is a raspberry ale fermented with a Belgian yeast strain in a nod to the ancient monastic brewing tradition.

The brew is similar to the brewery’s year-round Rubaeus raspberry ale, which is 5.7-percent ABV, and comes in stronger at 9.2-percent ABV.

Blushing Monk will be available in all markets on draft and in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles from now until March.

Founders originally brewed Blushing Monk in 2011 and brought it back in 2015 because of popular demand, according to a previous Business Journal report.

Green Zebra Gose, brewed for ArtPrize 9 in 2017, will also return as part of the Limited Series in May, and Founders Imperial Stout will arrive under the series in December, according to Founders’ 2019 availability calendar.
