A brewery is adding a new seasonal beer to its lineup.
Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids will add Azacca IPA to its seasonal offerings beginning in January.
The beer is brewed with a relatively new and experimental hop, Azacca.
Azacca is a hop created by Yakima, Wash.-based Roy Farms and offers intense tropical fruit notes.
Azacca IPA includes a “touch” of caramel malt to provide “a sweet backbone” to the citrus, mango and orchard fruit notes in the 7-percent ABV beer.
Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders Brewing Co., said the beer’s citrus and tropical fruit characteristics “make it ideal for an American-style IPA.”
The rest of Founders' 2016 availability calendar will be released later this month.
The beer will be available in six packs of 12-ounce bottles for a suggested retail price of $9.99 across the brewery’s distribution footprint.
Azacca will be added to Founders' line of packaged IPAs, such as Centennial IPA, All Day IPA, Red’s Rye IPA, Devil Dancer, reDANKulous and Double Trouble.
