One of Disney’s most popular productions will make its way to Grand Rapids.
“The Lion King” will make its Grand Rapids debut in the 2019-2020 season of Broadway Grand Rapids.
The touring musical's exclusive run in the market will be for two weeks at DeVos Performance Hall downtown.
The show will feature Elton John's and Tim Rice's music from the animated film, along with three new songs by John and Rice.

Familiar music from the “Rhythm of the Pride of Lands,” an album inspired by the original music in the film, will also be heard.
The animated film first premiered in November 1997. Since then, 25 global productions of the musical have been seen by more than 95-million people.
Grand Rapids will be part of more than 70 cities in North America that have seen the touring musical production. The Disney production won six Tony Awards in 1998 and has won several other theater awards.
