A fitness-focused foundation has awarded grants totaling $25,000 to five Michigan organizations.

Gazelle Sports Foundation awards grants to fitness organizations that promote a healthy lifestyle.

“We are now in our third year of delivering grants intended to assist Michigan in becoming one of the nation’s most active and fit states,” said Chris Lampen-Crowell, Gazelle Sports co-owner and foundation board member. “We focus on groups that face barriers to integrating fitness into their lives and support them through education, access, programs and events that involve fitness and active living.”


Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital: To work with rehabilitation patients through adaptive sports.

Family Health Center in Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood: To purchase exercise equipment and support wellness programs.

Danialle Karmanos’ Work It Out Inc.: To support 10-week yoga and nutrition programs during fall 2017 for 500 kids ages 7–11 at up to eight schools in Detroit.

Kids Moving and Thriving: To support 5K race, triathlon training, and character development workshops for youth.

Pathways of Arbor Circle Corp.: To expand the Total Trek Quest Program into Kent County, serving Burton and Congress Elementary Schools.

Gazelle Sports Foundation

Gazelle Sports Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports individuals and organizations that implement education, programs and activities involving movement and fitness. Since 2015, the foundation has awarded a total of $57,000 to Michigan-based organizations.
