The Grand Rapids Business Journal won a pair of awards for online editorial excellence at an international competition over the weekend.
At the Editorial Excellence Awards at the Alliance of Area Business Publishers' Annual Summer Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, the Business Journal took home a silver in the Best Specialty E-Newsletter category, for its Michigan Made, and a bronze in the Best Daily Email category, for its Daily.
“We are very excited about this recognition,” said Scott Sommerfeld, manager of new media, design and production, Grand Rapids Business Journal. “We already know our readers love receiving our digital news products each day, and this confirms our leadership in the market, as well as on an international scale.”
More than 650 submissions from 46 publications in 26 categories were evaluated by 24 judges from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
“This international recognition among our peers is a tremendous achievement for the entire Business Journal team, the reporters and editors who devote exceptional professional talent in reporting on the greater Grand Rapids business community — with unique stories every day at grbj.com and in each one of the grbj.com enewsletters,” said Carole Valade, editor, Grand Rapids Business Journal. “This recognition puts Grand Rapids ‘on the map.’"
The Business Journal was represented at the event by reporter Pat Evans and sales manager Jenn Maksimowski.
Chris Ehrlich, online editor of grbj.com, added that the journal's website is "the daily record of business news in West Michigan."
"These awards validate that grbj.com is a top media property for market-specific business news," Ehrlich said.
