Officials said a fire at a Grand Rapids business that sent a large plume of smoke wafting over parts of the city caused an estimated $1 million in damage.
The fire was reported around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Pitsch Companies, a demolition and salvage company.
Pitsch Companies owner Lewis Pitsch told WOOD TV that the damage includes a shop for the maintenance department and equipment.
The cause wasn't immediately known.
Witnesses reported explosions authorities said were from oxygen, propane and acetylene tanks.
No injuries were reported, and no hazardous materials were believed involved, but area residents were advised to close windows and stay in their homes.
Some area residents were reportedly evacuated as a precaution.
Crews were on the scene this morning.
