A local car wash chain has been acquired by an Arizona company.

Southland Auto Wash’s six locations in the area have been acquired by Tucson, Arizona-based Mister Car Wash.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Southland chain operates four locations in Grand Rapids, one in Comstock Park and one in Wyoming.

The acquisition marks Mister Car Wash’s first locations in Michigan.

“It’s special to be in a position to expand into Michigan with Southland’s iconic brand,” said John Lai, CEO, Mister Car Wash. “We found a strong alignment of core values with the Southland team and have been inspired by their commitment to the community and their people.”

Southland Auto Wash was founded in 1950 and operated by the Ellis family.

“As we looked to the future of not only our business but our people, we knew that Mister Car Wash would be respectful of our legacy and community,” said Mark Ellis, president, Southland Auto Wash.

Mister Car Wash opened its first location in 1969 and has more 200 locations across the country.
