The Centre for Plastic Surgery is turning 30 this year. To celebrate, it’s moving into a new home.

The Grand Rapids surgery, skincare and cosmetics practice is now located in southeast Grand Rapids, at 2060 East Paris Ave. SE.

First Companies, which owns the building, performed the build out, with Cox Medendorp Olson as architect.

Centre for Plastic Surgery moved into the new 11,500-square-foot space this month — after spending 25 years at its Michigan Street location.

Extra room

The Centre will continue to offer all the services that were previously available, as well as new ones.

The space has more room than the previous one for treatment and recovery rooms, offices and a private entrance for patients, said Dr. Benjamin Rechner, partner at Centre.

In recent years, Centre, which has been seeing an increase in new patients, has acquired new technology, Rechner said, including the TouchMD portal, which is used for patient consultations.

New staff

Centre also plans to hire five new employees, Rechner said.

Michele Fife, a local yoga instructor, also will be holding monthly wellness seminars at Centre, starting in September. Registration will be limited, but the seminars will be free and open to the public.

“One roof”

The move allows the practice to house all of its services under one roof, he said, making it easier for patients and staff.

“Under the one roof, we have the skincare side, the clinical side and administrative offices in the back, and then we also have operating rooms,” Rechner said.

“It’s a much more efficient space, and it’s just a nicer space in general,” he said. “We always felt that we provided quality care . . . but we felt that the physical environment in the old office didn’t do our staff justice.”
