Chamber names Agents of Change

A chamber of commerce in the region has named its Agents of Change.

The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce said this month the awards went to a total of nine individuals and organizations “who have made a positive contribution to the Muskegon lakeshore.”

"The Muskegon lakeshore is quickly evolving,” said Cindy Larsen, president, Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce. “These individuals and organizations are dramatically changing the landscape of our community and deserve recognition for their efforts.”

2017 Agents of Change

City of Whitehall (Colby Street)

The City of Whitehall worked with all the stakeholders to re-invent the main street, Colby Street, with additional businesses to attract tourists.

Ann Meisch

Meisch, with the City of Muskegon, opened the Western Market in downtown Muskegon, which is comprised of 10 small pop-up retail shops along West Western Avenue.

Dale Nesbary

Nesbary received the award for his work as president of Muskegon Community College.

T.J. Chappel

Chappel, Muskegon Heights club director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore, worked to give the Boys & Girls Club a fully operational Muskegon Heights program.

Hamburger Mikey

The recently opened Hamburger Mikey, at 1125 3rd St. in Muskegon, has become a “destination restaurant popular with young and old.”

Muskegon Polish Festival

A local committee started the annual Muskegon Polish Festival in 2016, featuring music, dancing and food.

Great Lakes Fresh Market

The team at Great Lakes Fresh Market is transforming stores from an old grocery chain into modern facilities with healthy food choices.

La Colombe Coffee

A Philadelphia-based company, La Colombe Coffee chose Norton Shores to manufacture its draft latte product. 

KL Outdoor

KL Outdoor, an outdoor recreation products manufacturer, chose to keep its headquarters in Muskegon.
