A local chamber of commerce has honored a group of entrepreneurs and nonprofits for making a difference in the community.
At an event last night at 20 Monroe Live, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce announced winners in seven categories for its annual EPIC Awards. EPIC stands for entrepreneurial, progressive, innovative and collaborative.
The chamber selects local organizations and professionals for the awards for their “outstanding success stories and contributions to West Michigan’s thriving economy.”
“We are proud to support businesses and individuals growing, innovating, collaborating and creating right here in West Michigan,” said Rick Baker, president and CEO, Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. “They are the economic engines driving growth in the Grand Rapids region.”
Selection process
Twenty local entrepreneurs and nonprofits were in the running for seven EPIC Award categories.
Each finalist was required to complete a comprehensive application as part of the nomination process. Seven selection committees comprised of chamber members and sponsors were then formed for each EPIC Award category.
After reviewing all nominee applications, each committee selected three finalists to interview before selecting a winner.
All finalists and recipients were honored for their support of the community, growth, innovation and work with others as mentors and as collaborators.
