A church in the region has built a new $1.2-million home.
Restore Church recently finished work on its single-story, 12,500-square-foot church in Ionia, at 430 W. Main St., according to Orion Construction last month.
The church hosted a grand-opening celebration from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
Firms on the project
The project was financed largely through a church capital campaign. Grand Rapids-based Mercantile Bank also provided financing.
Grand Rapids-based Create 3 Architecture & Consulting was the architect on the project.
Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction was the project’s contractor.
Construction on the project began in September 2016.
A growing church
The new church features a brick and block exterior that's designed to complement the surrounding Main Street businesses.
The building features a larger sanctuary to accommodate the church’s growing congregation of more than 300 people, and the property has on-site parking.
Restore Church is “heavily engaged” in the community and hosts regular youth services, men’s and women’s ministries and other community events. The new church allows for an expansion of these services.
The congregation had outgrown its former home in an adjacent building on Main Street with no on-site parking. The church acquired the new property, previously home to a building that, at the time, was under the Ionia Historic Preservation Commission’s oversight. The historic structure was later deemed irreparable and therefore was allowed to be demolished to make way for Restore Church’s new home.
Restore Church will continue to use its old building for administrative offices.
“We are humbled by the support we’ve received from our community from the moment we embarked on this journey,” said John Prominski, pastor, Restore Church. “This process began with a calling and since that time, the Ionia community has been along with us.
“The campaign was a success. The input from our congregation was crucial, and most importantly, we are all here together in a beautiful new space to worship, share and grow. We give God all the glory for the great things he has done. We thank Ionia. We thank our donors, our congregation and the team that helped us bring this calling to reality.”
