There is a new sports team in West Michigan.

The newly minted Battle Creek Rumble Bees are now a member of the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

The team will play at The Rink, located in the Cereal City's downtown area.

“We are a new small business here in the community … we will keep our business here, with everyone local. We ‘Bee-lieve’ in Battle Creek,” said Adam Stio, general manager.

The team’s uniforms, logo and mascot were unveiled. There will be a “name the mascot contest” ongoing until the end of summer.

The winner who picks the best mascot name will receive two free season tickets for this year.

The season is scheduled to begin Oct. 25, when the Rumble Bee face off against Illinois’ Danville Dashers at home in a two-game series.
