An Ann Arbor-based coffee company is opening a new café in town where another one previously operated.

The last day of operation at Lightfast Coffee + Art in Grand Rapids was July 29.

The space in the East Hills neighborhood, at 944 Fulton St. E, is now closed for renovations until it re-opens as a Stovetop Roasters location.

“We’re very excited about Stovetop’s vision for the space and staff,” Lightfast says on its Facebook page. “You can count on the same attention to quality products and service once the space re-opens.”

Stovetop says it will retain all Lightfast staff.

“We've been friends with the good people at Lightfast for years,” the company says in an e-newsletter. “We've long admired the tone and atmosphere they achieved in that café, and it's an honor that they've given us the opportunity to make a home in that space.”

Stovetop Roasters operates both a roastery and a café in Ann Arbor.

Its products are also available through a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly subscription program.
